You might like to do this today and tomorrow as it will probably take you a while to do this!

Aim: to design a short stop motion animation for young children. To create a flip book as a simple animation.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking at designing and creating our own animations.

See the weblink below to browse the different types of animation. There is a video link too if you wish to watch this. You don't have to do both.

The 5 Types of Animation

What are the different types of animation? How do each of them work?

See the attached document and read the letter from CBeebies! We need to create a short stop motion animation. What do you know about these types of animation?

(Answer! They can be drawn by hand or digitally. There are many shots per second in these types of animation. Take a look at this amazing version of Toy Story made by 2 brothers using stop animation techniques! You don't need to watch the WHOLE film!!!! Scroll forward to the parts where the toys are and you will be able to see how they have taken lots of single shots and put them altogether. Clever!)

Toy Story 3 In Real Life | Full-length Fan Film

Toy Story 3 In Real Life is a fan-made shot-for-shot recreation of Pixar's Toy Story 3. The project was produced by brothers Morgan and Mason McGrew.

Consider What will a short animation for Cbeebies need to be like? What features will it have? Consider bright colours, clear and simple plot, no written words, appropriate and friendly characters.

TASK - design and create your own flip book suitable for young children! It can be about anything you like!

IF you need more support, use one of the flip book templates included in the attached document.

IF you would rather not draw, why not try using a hole punch to make holes in the paper and show these moving? Or use stickers?

Otherwise get drawing and creating! You can cut and stick pieces of paper together, or a pad of sticky notes works brilliantly.

You could film your finished results so they look like a proper animation!
