Maths - Shape

 

We are going to be learning about 2d and 3d shapes, and their properties.

Can you find out what these words mean?

 

2d

polygon

sides

vertex / vertices 

 

Pick some shapes below and see if you can use the vocabulary below to describe them.

 

 

Play 'guess my shape.' Describe a shape without saying the name of it - can you say how many sides or vertices it has? Is it a polygon? Can the person you are playing with work out what shape you are describing?

3d shapes

 

This week we have been revising our knowledge of 3d shapes.

 

We have checked we can name 3d shapes:

 

cube

cuboid

sphere

triangular prism

triangular-based pyramid

square-based pyramid

cylinder 

 

Make sure you can understand the terminology:

 

edge, vertices, faces, point
