PE Funding 2016-2017

Due to the extra funding provided by the government, Winscombe has been able to participate in a lot more sports events and provide a lot more sporting opportunities for all children in each year group. Please read below to see how we have allocated the money provided this year and our plans for the future.

Term 6 Sport

The children have been super busy this term attending lots of sporting events across the county.

The Year 5 and 6 girls entered a gymnastics team, performing memorized floor and vault routines to a judging panel - they did amazingly well and out of 24 teams who entered we were in the top 10.

We also attended Quad kids, where the children had to work as team and complete four events including a 600m run, 100m sprint, javelin and long jump. Chelsea jumped 1.76 metres from standing! A brilliant achievement.

There has been a swimming gala, KS1 multiskills, Lower KS2 quadkids, cricket, rounders...the list goes on!

Well done everyone for your willingness to participate, great team spirit and enthusiasm!

Summer Sport at Winscombe

The last few terms have been really busy and we have had lots of sporting events.

Spring School Games - A huge well done to Year 5 who progressed to the South West level of the archery competition. We just found out that we came 4th out of 24 teams! A close miss! Such a shame but the children did fantastic! Lydia managed to achieve a gold award for individual points scored.  We also took part in the cycling event where Emmie in Year 5 achieved silver for the girls! Great effort!

Year 3 also attended tri-golf and tennis events at Failands sports ground in Bristol. They had a brilliant day and showed super team spirit. It was really cold and not one person complained! A big thanks to Mrs Horwood and Mrs Griffin for helping.
