PE Funding 2017-2018
Due to the extra funding provided by the government, Winscombe has been able to participate in a lot more sports events and provide a lot more sporting opportunities for all children in each year group. Please read below to see how we have allocated the money provided this year and our plans for the future.
Term 1 and 2 Sport
It has been a super busy start to the new year, with Winscombe Primary School taking parts in lots of different sporting opportunities this term! We started the term with the Cluster football event, involving years 4, 5 and 6. The children loved taking part in the event and many children showed great determination in representing their team! Following that, Years 4 and 5 participated in a Kurling event. Many had never played Kurling before, as it was a chance to learn new skills and apply these to a competitive game against other schools. Four children represented Year 4 as well as four children in Year 5 and enjoyed this immensely. We also took part in two cross country events this term, where many of our determined runners had the opportunity to showcase their skills and did an excellent job in respecting other children and cheering on their teams. Finally, we finished with the World Touch Rugby event which was held at Weston Super Mare rugby club. Year 4 and 5/6 participated in this with year 5 working co-operatively and just missing out on the plate cup. Year 4 did remarkably well, winning the Cup round and bringing home a spectacular trophy.
In term 2, Winscombe have taken part in more events including Table tennis, KS2 Multiskills and Dodgeball. All the children involved in KS2 enjoyed attending these events and worked well, showing great sportsmanship which we have been working on, particularly in year 4. KS1 had the opportunity to attend a Multiskills event. All the children were very well behaved and did an excellent job in showing great behaviour on the day. Well done Winscombe!!
